Potassium Ferricyanide is most commonly utilized in photography & blueprint drawing and to remove silver from color negatives & positives. It is known to have chemical formula K3[Fe(CN)6] and molecular weight of 329.24 g/mol. This compound appears as bright red colored salt with water soluble nature providing green-yellow fluorescence. It can easily be industrially produced by passing chlorine through potassium ferrocyanide solution. With melting point of around 300 degrees Celsius, Potassium Ferricyanide also shows solubility in acids. It is greatly admired for its ability to harden steel & iron in dyeing wool and electroplating process. For having mild oxidizing ability, this chemical is a choice for organic chemistry and as laboratory reagent as well.
