Magnesium stearate

Magnesium Stearate is an anti-adherent which is most commonly utilized in formulation of pharmaceutical tablets, capsules, and powders. It is known to have good lubricating properties which prevent sticking of ingredient to manufacturing machine’s components during compression. In hard candies, this chemical is used as a binding agent for sugar and also utilized efficiently in dry coating processes. Magnesium Stearate has chemical formula Mg(C18H35O2)2 with molar mass of 591.27 g/mol. It is a cream to off-white colored powder which is insoluble in water with mild odor and density of 1.026 g/cm3.
