Hydantoin

Derivatives of Hydantoin are widely utilized in formulation of various medicines that are intended to be used for treatment of malignant hyperthermia, spasticity, and neuroleptic malignant syndrome. It is a heterocyclic compound that also finds application in preparation of pesticides and amino acid synthesis. This compound is known to have chemical formula C3H4N2O2 with molar mass of 100.08 g/mol.  Hydantoin is synthesized by reaction of glycolic acid and urea having colorless solid appearance. It can be reacted with hot & dilute HCl to receive glycine amino acid. This compound is also known as oxidized derivative of imidazolidine.
