Chromic Acid is an excellent oxidizing agent which finds application for cleaning of laboratory glassware. It also serves as an intermediate in chromium plating and used in colored glass manufacturing and ceramic glazes. This acid is produced by dissolving dichromate in concentrated sulfuric acid, which provides it dark red colored appearance. It has chemical formula H2Cr2O7 with melting point of 197 degrees Celsius. With density of 1.201 g/cm3, Chromic Acid shows good solubility in water and decomposes at 250 degrees Celsius. For having ability to provide bright appearance to raw brass, it finds application in instrument repairing industry as well.
